10. Document the estimate

• Document the purpose, contributors and who approved your estimate
• Describe the outcome or product, technical baseline and assumed schedule for your estimate
• Document assumptions, basis and any other relevant information, including product lifecycle implications
• Separate components according to the WBS
• Describe areas of sensitivity, risk and uncertainty
• Record all steps you take in working up your estimate

• Note comparison with previous estimates, if applicable
