    • With understanding & giving positive feedback

    • And not interrupting in the speaker's pauses

• Neutral

  • Passive information gathering

    • Unquestioning & generally neutral
  • Selective

    • Hearing only what you want to hear

• Negative

  • Defensive

    • With a skeptical attitude, or simply distracted
  • Aggressive

    • Trying to "trip up" the speaker
