What should it show?

The Master Schedule should:

Be developed as early as possible in the project life span
Be maintained by the project manager
For the project's owner/sponsor
- And preferably developed through negotiation with the project's sponsor
Hence, show all major activities
- I.e. at a summary level
Together with key milestones or events
- Relating to each major activity
- At critical points in time
