- Clearly distinguish between the responsibilities of the project sponsor and the project manager
- Establish a generic corporate-wide project life span
- And tie it to a generic corporate organization model
- Clearly differentiate between the project management process
- And the process for developing the product
- Keep the focus on results, not documentation
- Use standard templates wherever possible
- Ensure every activity adds value, contributes to success
