Getting a PMO started
Here are some startup activities to consider
- Sell the concept to senior management
- And get them behind the initiative
- Acquire space, if needed
- Acquire furniture, equipment and software
- Establish communications equipment and systems
- Recruit staff, as needed
- Develop guidelines, standards, methodologies, metrics and templates
- Conduct PMO training in processes and standards
- Develop a business governance dashboard or scoreboard (metrics display)
- Solicit external consulting, to get the show on the road
